Desiring God, Revised Edition - Meditations of a Christian Hedonist (John Piper)

Desiring God, Revised Edition: Meditations of a Christian HedonistIn Desiring God, Meditations of a Christian Hedonist, John Piper attempts to convince the reader that "The Chief end of man is to glorify God by enjoying Him forever." It's "a serious book about being happy in God", as Piper puts it.

The book begins with Piper telling the story of how he became a Christian Hedonist and then proceeds to explain how the reader can become one too. It then covers Worship, Love, Scripture, Prayer, Money, Marriage, Missions, and Suffering all in the context of a Christian Hedonist.

This was my first experience reading a book by Piper. Although I enjoyed reading this book, I did find it a little difficult to get through at times. In my opinion it's not the type of book you speed through. You need to set aside enough time to let it soak in. I could honestly see myself reading this book again to really absorb everything.

Overall I would definitely recommend this book. It's interesting and thought provoking for sure. I look forward to reading other titles by Piper.

Disclaimer: I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review. I was not required to give a positive review. This is my honest opinion.
